Musee Rodin

Are advance tickets needed to visit this museum?

|||

Nope. You need tix but no need to purchase them in advance. Your Museum Pass works there as well.

|||

As noted, advance purchase tickets aren%26#39;t necessary for the MUSÉE RODIN and admission is included on the PARIS MUSEUM PASS...but you do have an option. The full admission price to both the home, galleries, special exhibitions and gardens is 6 €....but you may also purchase admission to just the outdoor sculpture gardens surrounding the house for 1 €. The Rodin is regularly closed on Mondays and free to under-18%26#39;s.

Is it worth visiting the Rodin gardens if you plan to visit the Rodin exhibits at the Orsay? It sounds like some of the same sculptures are in both sites?

|||

Just a small tip also, you can not take baby strollers around inside so be prepare to carry small children.

|||

IMO on a warm, sunny day it%26#39;s nicer to walk around the gardens and look at the sculture rather than be inside.

it is only a Euro to visit the gardens -- and unless you love Rodin inordinately, that is probably enough, especially on a nice day -- it is not that fantastic a museum and it is very hot inside -- but the gardens are quite lovely and there is a small cafe there to get lunch things (mediocre but okay for a quick lunch) there are also nice chairs in the garden to rest, read etc --

Make sure you have the Museum Pass. They will practically escort you in with no wait at all. Otherwise, you may need to wait up to an hour on line.

I don%26#39;t know when your trip is but take note, the Rodin museum will be closed sometime in 2007---I didn%26#39;t take note of the exact date---for extensive remodelling. We just visited there last week. The garden has already been emptied of many of its pieces and a lot of it is being excavated for artifacts. Also where many of the pieces indoors were, are now notices that such and such has been lent out to xyz and please excuse the vacant space.

As noted, sometime during the year, the Hôtel Biron will be closed down to replace the parquet floors. This will be bad news for visitors to Paris...but my be good news for others...since much of the collection will be loaned out to various musuems around the world during the renovations.

Gomac was there in the middle of the archealogical dig of the gardens, which should be over by mid-April.
