I am doing some family history research on the family of Metzger. One family moved to %26quot;Bregsach%26quot; on the Rhein after they married. I think it was part of Germany then. The only thing I can find on the internet is %26quot;Breisach on the Rhein%26quot;. It could be that I have gotten a misspelling, however, since I plan to follow the trail of my ancestors this summer, I really have to know which town it is. In addition, I would like to know if it is a large or small town (since we live in low populated area, we tend to enjoy small towns the most) , if it has lodging and if it has a train station. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ooops, hit the send button too fast
Both towns are %26#39;twinned%26#39; and are are close from each other, on both sides of the Rhin
both have an official website : for Breisach am Rhein (Germany) : www.breisach.de/html/seiten/startseite.phtml…
for Neuf-Brisach (France) :http://www.paysdebrisach.fr/sivom/base/rubrique/Communes/Neuf_Brisach/
both are small (Neuf Brisach) to middle size (Breisach am Rhein) towns

It is probably Breisach in Germany, near Freiburg/Black-Forest. It has a population of 10.000 and is situated in the lovely %26quot;Kaiserstuhl-wine-region%26quot;. There also are numbers of small wine-growing villages around , with all kinds of accomodations.

Breisach is accessible by train via Freiburg. For time tables check:

To: Breisach am Rhein Bahnhof
