Mont Ventoux Area Hotel with Children

We are travelling through the area on our way to Barcelona in August.......

London-Paris... Eurostar

Would love to stay around Mont Ventoux as we would like to visit the site of so many great cycling duels, hopefully a nice family hotel ( 3 children ages 10, 8 %26amp; 2) with a pool.

Thank you very much.

Napa - you don%26#39;t say your budget. You could look up Hotel des Pins. It is not expensive. You could perhaps even book two adjoinging rooms for you and the kids. It is just at the foot of Mt. Ventoux in Bedoin. It is less than a kilometer from my house. It has a nice pool, good restaurant, clean comfortable rooms and it is within 1.5 kms (walking distance) to the village. It is surrounded by Pine trees and is far enough from the village to be very quiet. Bedoin is a lovey village with many restaurants for all budgets. There is a very nice grocery store, three doctors, two dentists, a pharmacy, two ATM machines and is the starting point of many bike trips up the mountain. You can also rent bikes in the village if you wish. The hotel could probably arrange a babysitter fo the day if you wish to bike.

There are also plenty of B%26amp;B%26#39;s in this general area. If you would like

a list of them, email me at lori.lane@cegetel.net.

Let me know if I can provide further info.

Bon voyage !

Thank you for the suggestion.

3 or 4 star hotels are the range we are looking at.

|||

Can anyone please tell me if Hostellerie de Crillon le Brave is child friendly.....looks a lovely spot.

|||

Hotel Crillon le Brave is a lovely hotel, a bit on the expensive side, especially in July and August.

As to child friendly, not too sure as everyone%26#39;s idea on this is different (see the many posts regarding traveling with children). They do have a pool. The restaurant is on the expensive side and since the rooms are not cheap either, you may find that %26quot;most%26quot; families choose to stay in places somewhat less expensive. Having said that, there are always those with bigger budgets ...

|||

I double checked the room rates at Hotel Crillon le Brave. They are from 155 to 530 euros per night (I saw only two at 155). If this is your budget, you will have an enormous lot to choose from. I take it you will not be staying a full week in this area - if you were, I would recommend a large, private stone home with pool - this would fall below the cost of Hotel Crillon ..

You might want to check out a few others in my immediate area (Mt. Ventoux).

Napa

The Crillon le Brave is one of my favorite hotels but I am not really sure how suitable it would be for children

It does have a lovely swimming pool with views over to Bedion and Mont Ventoux but it is small.

Whenever we have been there it has mostly been populated by couples.

The hotel is built %26quot;into%26quot; the village and there are lots of windy staircases.

My memory may be failing me but I seem to remember that the hotel had some apartments in the village.

Also as Toutou says it is also expensive.

I think the area aroud Bedoin is lovely and until we bought our own place in France we rented gites in the area for many years. Have you thought about a gite with its own pool, eating out in local resaturanrs and/or buying the local produce and preparing it in the gite?

|||

Thank you toutou %26amp; boucheboy....we are open to any suggestions on gites if you have some, certainly would not mind that option.

We are looking closely at Hotel des Pins in Bedoin, Safari Hotel in Carpentras (we tried Hostellerie Le Beffroi in Vaison La Romaine %26amp; La Bastide des Papes in Avignon but they are full)

As you can see we are all over the map....any thoughts welcome.

|||

If I were you, I would avoid Hotel Safari in Carpentras. It is in a location that is not very nice. Carpentras is what the folks in this region refer to as a dying town. There are many reasons for this and the center village itself is trying to do a %26quot;make-over%26quot; and bring in new shops, restaurants, etc. to try to rejuvenate it. In the mean time, it would not be my choice of locations in which to stay.

Beffroi would have been nice, but it books way in advance and I have to say, it isn%26#39;t THAT great. (we%26#39;ve stayed there twice)

The hotels you have mentioned are nothing like Hotel Crillon, so I guess that is out for you. Did you have a chance to take a look at any of my above suggestions?? Did you find any to your liking. They are all very nice and run the gammut as far as budget is concerned.

As to gites, try taking a look at VRBO.com and searching Mt. Ventoux. You will get a huge number to take a look at. Since you are coming in August, you might have to search by available dates as they do book pretty far in advance. But, this area is so filled with gites of ALL qualities and price ranges, you should not have a problem finding something. It would be a totally different type of vacation for you. Allowing lots more space, freedom and eating in. Not to mention a private pool if you like.

You can also try www.rentalsfrance.com, but I prefer VRBO.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Napa

There are seveal sites but my suggestions would be:-

www.gites.com

www.cheznous.com

The later is a listing of various propertires where you deal directly with the property owner so there might be a little more flexability.

Thank you again.

I am exploring all these options, I have stumbled across Hostellerie Francois Joesph in Le Barroux...any comments please?
