Liquor Laws in Paris - wine for picnic lunch

This will be our first trip - in two weeks time - to Paris and we%26#39;d like to buy some fresh bread, cheese, meat and a bottle of wine and enjoy several outdoor picnic lunches.

I suspect French liqour laws are more liberal than in most of North America - but can one carry an open bottle of wine and freely consume it in say a public park?

Appreciate knowing the intracacies.

Thank you..

Technically, it is not permitted to drink openly however most turn a blind eye to it if you are discreet and not acting out.

You will need to find a park that has grassy areas where you are permitted to be on, or else find a bench to sit on.
