1st Timer needs urgent advise

Heres the score.

We are from the UK, both of us have never been to France before.

I want to book a romantic weekend, say next weekend from 6th April in Paris. I just want to be situated where im near shops, resturants (as I wont be driving). We want it to be a leisurely break that will not break the bank. Im stumpted as to what hotel to go for, ive never been to this city before. Can anyone advise? Realisticly I don’t want to pay any more that £100 GBP / 150 Euros per night.

Going places travel agents have one or two brochures for paris city breaks including Bridge Travel, they have some offers for £99pp and some offer 3 nights for the price of 2.

Listen, I am far too jealous of you lucky Brits who can actually consider just popping over to Paris on a whim. I have to plan months in advance , buy airline tickets, and travel for 9 or 10 hours in a plane, not including at least one, most likely two stop overs.

So I refuse to help you.

Just kidding. LOL

You have left it so late you may have trouble with availabities.

Try :Hotel Des Mines, cheap, clean, good location, rooms small, but staff are nice and speak english.

Also try Henri IV Rive Gauche( that name exactly, there are similar)

haven%26#39;t stayed there but looks super romantic. Don%26#39;t use a booking site contact hotel directly through the web site for best rates, also they may have last minute vacancies due to cancellations.

Good luck you spoiled brat! LOL

Try holiday inn express place d%26#39;italie. Has huge shopping mall adjacent, restaurants, and subway just one minute walk. Check it out on tripadvisor page. Its in a residential area so prices are for locals and not tourists. Its modern, and around 110 euros a night with breakfast included.

Joan that made me laugh!.........ok we have the means to do Paris easy but we have the same in reverse if we want to see America and as its such a huge area there is no way we can do just the one trip! We have to do it over and over and over .....lol!

Someone recommended the Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche in an earlier thread and I cannot agree more. It is in a GREAT location, but it is still a boutique-y hotel with a lot of charm. It is on a busy street, so you might want to request an interior room (note: the interior view is nothing to write home about, but you also escape being woken by the bells of St. Severin, right across the street). If you%26#39;re interesting in looking at other places, check out the small hotels in St. Germain des Pres (6th arr.). They should easily satisfy your demand for romance and location.

Joan - 9 or 10 hours? hahah - lucky you!! Although of course not as lucky as those who can hop across to Paris on a whim!

Last Wednesday I left my home in Sydney and arrived in London some 30 hours later....(with a stop in Hong Kong!!) - and I have to take yet another flight to get to Paris!!

But I know when i arrive in Paris tomorrow it will sll be worth it!!
