Trip report by nature woman

Here I go, I am not a city person, researched options before arriving in Paris, and can only say my 5 day Paris trip was wonderful. Everyone in my family was happy with my planning and felt each day was exciting but yet relaxing. I love to plan(I%26#39;m a teacher) and was careful not to overplan but due to the wonderful people on this forum was able to pick and choose how to spend our time.

We flew from JFK on american airlines Friday night march 30 and landed in paris at around noon.(roundtrip airfare returning thursday April 5th was $593.00US including all fees. My original plan was to transfer to the hotel using the Roisseybus which would have put us near the Opera Garnier meaning a 20 minute walk to our hotel but it was raining so got a taxi for 75Euro for the 4 of us and luggage and arrivied at our hotel the Citadine Le louvre at 1pm. We had reserved a 1 bedroom apt. and planned on having our 16-year-old girls on the sleep out couch but even though we had reserved 6 months ago these rooms were all booked. So they gave us 2 studio apartments adjacent to each other (508 and 510) thrilling our girls and giving me and my husband some privacy. Cost was pre-paid on expedia for about 330US per night and we each had balconys, kitchens, and a view of the fountain and city square in front of the hotel.(I%26#39;ll do a review on hotel tomorrow) We couldn%26#39;t get into our rooms until 3pm so we walked up the Ave. de L%26#39;opera, window shopped, people watched, and within 10 minutes were in the supermarket(monoprix) buying wine and supplies necessary for breakfasts and lunches in room. After unpacking walked for 5 minutes to find the Carousel entrance to louvre, window shopped in the undergreound facility, and bought advance tickets at the Tobac store there for our upcoming Wednesday visit to the louvre. That way we could skip the lines. then we headed out in front of the louvre to check out the pyramid, square and the Tulieres garden headiang towards the Cityrama office where I had booked online Monday night dinner at the eiffel tower followed by cruise on the Seine. Finding the office only 10 minutes walk away I confirmed our monday night plans, continued walking and people watching and went to bed early after sitting on our balcony sipping wind and people watching. the next day we woke up early and boarded the L%26#39;open Bus and on board bought 2day tickets. This was a great choice for us not knowing anything about Paris. So for the next 2 days we rode around on the top level with earphones learning and seeing many sights, getting off and on as much as we wanted, and really getting a feel for the lay-out of the city and where everything was in relation to us. The weather was spectacular, we got to look down at the people in front of the cafes, hear the city noises(you are not enclosed) and have 4 different routes to mix and match all for one price. My girls had a quest to shop for prom dresses so scanned the areas for shopping. Of course the bus goes by all the %26#39;big%26#39; tourist areas with hopoff/hopon stops along the way. it was a great choice for us.(I%26#39;ll continue later)

Hi naturewoman, thanks for taking the time to write your trip report. I am glad you had a very nice visit to Paris.

The airfare was that for two people? It sounds like you got a great bargain in any case.

It sounds like you saw alot and did alot and was very fortunate to have very pleasant weather. The L%26#39;Open Bus tour seems very nice and convenient. My relatives used it when they visited Paris with their toddler and really enjoyed it too.

Hope you can visit Paris again soon.

Glad you enjoyed your stay! Sounds like you lucked out on the lodging too. Though you didn%26#39;t get what you were expecting what you got appears to have been even better!
