what is a good telecart?

Any suggestions for a good and reasonable telecarte to use in France and Paris? A card i can use to call back to the U.S. and while in France without being put into the poorhouse. Would I have to first call a central operator, and if so, would that person speak only French? Caan these caaards be purchased anywhere as in the US? Thanks.

Hi,

I was searching for the same answer. When you will you be in Paris? I have had my trip planned since October and finally today I decided on a hotel. It is so hard with so many areas and never having been there I didn%26#39;t know what to do, but I met this man today and he used to live there, I felt so much better after speaking to him but forgot to ask about the calling card. If you get an answer will you let me know.

Thanks, Kristina

I am not sure what you are really inquiring about. Télécartes are sold in different denominations (at any tabac or magazine store) but that is the only choice of which I am familiar.

The 120 unit Télécarte offers the cheapest rates for international calling and it the one I recommend.

I also get my telecartes from the tabac or news agents. The type I get are with a scratchoff code on reverse. It%26#39;s your personal code that you need to enter when prompted by the recording (English is a choice). The minutes deduct quicker if you use the telecarte in a hotel than at a public phone. I never paid more than 7.50 euro for mine and felt they were very economical.
