st. germain du pris

Hi, I%26#39;m looking for a hostel (for 4 college kids) in the St. Germain Du Pris. Definitely on a budget (so cheap is the way to go)...best bang for the buck! Any suggestions? Thanks!

It will help your research and %26#39;searching%26#39; skills if you use the spelling:

St Germain des Pres

I will be hugely surprised if a hostel exists in that district, one of the expensive ones of all of them...

Try telling how much (little) you want to spend per person per night... then someone can give possible places.

I%26#39;ll blame the poor spelling on my mom, she went last summer and advised me looking for a hostel there. Our budget is around 30 euros per night (awfully low I realize)....does this help?

Just to clarify, you do mean 30 euro per night per person correct? If so, I don%26#39;t know hotels but I doubt you%26#39;ll find something in that area for that price. I am a college student also and I was recently looking for a hotel for around 70 euro per night and didn%26#39;t find anything....maybe someone else knows an %26quot;unknown%26quot; place. But we ended up booking Cosmo%26#39;s hotel...you can get a double room for 58 euro. Its near the republique but there are several subway lines there. Hope this helps you!

Hotel choices in the 6th arrondissement--Saint Germain des Prés within your budget range (even doubling 30 € per person for a standard Double room with twins for 60€ per night) will be practically non-existent. So with this in mind, if the Left Bank is still your location preference, you should probably expand your budget hotel search to the 5th arrondissement--Latin Quarter (just to the east if the 6eme) and even then, you%26#39;ll probably have to stretch your hotel budget.

Within your price rannge you%26#39;re probably going to have to go a bit farther out from the center of Paris. A good area to search in would be the eastern neighborhoods of the 11th arrondissement-Republique and 12th arrondissement-Bastille

Though I%26#39;m just reminded that there is a very basic little 1-star, located in the lower-Marais, on the Right Bank, at the edge of the pedestrian, Montorgueil market neighborhood, and get generally good reviews (for what it is)

TIQUETONNE HÔTEL (1-star)-- 6 rueiquetonne 75002, Metro: Etienne Marcel--

You could try this one in the 5th but it is only about 150 metres from where the 5th meets the 6th and near the Seine. It is near Place Maubert which has a (mainly food) market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and has great food shops (charcuterie, fromagerie, patisserie, wine shop, etc)

PS I hope your budget of 30 Euros a night is per person as otherwise you might be looking at buying ground sheets etc and seeking advice on safe places to sleep on the streets.

Under 30 Euros per person, in a nice touristy area, the only place i can think about is the MIJE hostel (in the Marais) http://www.mije.com/paris_individuels.html

ya its 30 per person, thanks for all the recommendations! We can definitely %26quot;splurge%26quot; if we need to in Paris, but want to start low if we can. Thanks for the advice!

An alternative is to this is to purchase a couple of empty Siemens%26#39; household appliance boxes...and find a spot under an overpass out at the Périphérique.....cut a hole in the cardboard for a %26#39;.window..%26#39;....then with a couple of cans of spray paint, you can create your own %26#39;.room with a view..%26#39; (albeit not exactly what Forster had in mind) of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe on the concrete walls.
