getting from Monte Carlo to Nice?

We%26#39;ll be disembarking from a cruise in Monte Carlo and need to get to our hotel in Nice. We%26#39;ll have a couple of pieces of luggage and we%26#39;re getting up in years, so train isn%26#39;t an option this time. I%26#39;ve inquired of my hotel (La Perouse) about private transfer and their quote is 85 euros. That seems steep to me for such a short distance, but I may simply be naive about what things cost in that area. In short, if possible, I%26#39;d love to find a car transfer of some sort that costs less. Suggestions greatly appreciated!

That sounds fair to me, particularly considering that, as hotel guests, you%26#39;ll be looked after very well.

We pay €100 for a private car to take us from Nice airport to Cannes, which is about 11 miles. From Monte Carlo to Nice it%26#39;s about 8 miles.

I agree it%26#39;s seems to be a lot, but the comfort is worth it to us.

You can get from Monaco to Nice by TAM 100 bus for 1.30 euro per person, or around five euro by train. BUT you have the inconvenience of walking to stations, finding out where buses stop, and the same at the other end. This really is the test of how much you value comfort and convenience.

The taxi fare from Nice Airport to Monaco is around 80 euro. You are not being cheated on the transfer quote. This is around the going rate, perhaps a little fat, but its one extreme or the other.

One compromise might be you get a taxi from the port of Monaco to the railway station - probably six euro, train to Nice gare Ville, five euro, and taxi to La Perouse, again probably six euro.

This could halve the cost of travel. But do you really want the hassle? Welcome to the South of France! Now open your wallet and repeat after me, %26quot;help yourself%26quot;

I appreciate the replies. Looks like we%26#39;ll bite the bullet and pay the 85 euros for the transfer. By the way, I assume that one tips for such service? 10-15%

I assume, too, that once we%26#39;re in Nice, we%26#39;ll be able to be comfortable with public transport for the couple of days of sight-seeing in the area. We%26#39;d like to see Eze and St Paul de Vence-- and what else? Will there be convenient buses? Not sure what else we%26#39;ll have time to do, especially since we of course will want to explore Nice itself.

Thanks again for help!

Hi Nancy ~ 10% is fine as a tip for this ride, but should you later take taxi%26#39;s, I would just round it up as you do in the US.

Just in case NiceLife misses your post, allow me to point you to one of the best websites for more information, which will greatly wet your appetite and enhance your stay. (Courtesy of NiceLife himself, lol!) Enjoy :)

What should I expect to pay from the port at Monte-Carlo to the the Beau-Rivage in Nice?

The hotel has not answered my request for info on a transfer...

Thanks!

Beau Rivage is about 150 metres from La Perouse - see the earlier replies on this thread - around 80 euros.
