Best way to get to Angers, France from the US?

Hello,

I am meeting some of my friends in France for a holiday. They said if I could get to Angers, France they could pick me up from there.

From website surfing, the best way I *think* to get there is to fly to Paris (Charles De Gaulle airport) and then take a train to Angers. Is this the best way? If so, what is the best way to get from the airport to the train station? How long should I allow?

Thank you for your help!!

You have got a pretty good handle on the best way to make this trip — short of swimming... :-)

There are a *few* direct TGVs (high speed trains) from CDG to Angers taking about 2.5 hours. The train station is right inside the Terminal 2 complex. A quick check shows departures at 10:28, 13:38, 18:24 and 20:34. If none of these works for you you would have to get to the Montparnasse station in Paris from which TGVs to Angers take about 1.5 hours.

You can research timetables and fares for these options at voyages-sncf.com but first read this %26quot;how to%26quot; guide by MorganB: http://tinyurl.com/qpdef

When looking for trains from CDG use %26quot;Roissy%26quot; as your departure station. The SNCF site will interpret this as the CDG TGV station. If you are booking a train from CDG I would suggest you allow a minimum 2 hours from the time your flight arrives. If you are leaving from Montparnasse give yourself at least three hours. The easiest way to get from CDG to Montparnasse would be to take the Air France coach: www.carsairfrance.com

Note that the least expensive (PREMS) fares are non-refundable so if your flight is delayed and you miss your train the ticket will be worthless. You might want to book a full fare fully refundable ticket for that reason. PREMS fares on either route will probably be ~25€, full fare ~50€, both in second class.

Good luck!
