Need advice for a very short time in Paris

Hi!

We will be in Paris for all of about a day and a half in July, and I%26#39;m looking to make the most of our time there. It will be myself, my husband and two teenage daughters, 14 and 17. (The older one was in Paris for a couple days a few years ago. For the rest of us, it is our first time.)

We will be arriving at 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday, after 10 days in Italy. I figure we%26#39;ll make our way to our hotel, the Renaissance Vendome, and then head out from there. We leave Paris at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday!

Any suggestions of a game plan would be appreciated. Of course we want to see everything, but time is so limited. The girls will want some time for shopping, too.

Is the Open Bus tour worth it as a good option for getting to a lot of places in a short amount of time? Also, is a night time Siene River dinner cruise worth it considering we only have two nights. (Both kids are foodies, like me!) Finally, is the elevator on the Eifel Tower completely enclosed or can one see out? Luckily, we are all in great shape, so stairs aren%26#39;t a problem.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

You can count on it being hot.

Try to get some bottles of water at a small grocery store or something; otherwise, the tourist-extortionists will bug you with water sales.

The Seine dinner cruise is dressy-uppy and takes at least a couple hours. I would count on a July evening being warm and comfortable. It might be more fun, and far less expensive just to be with the whole family on the top deck of an open air meal-less Seine cruise. You can do this after it gets dark, well after 8pm in July. You could snack on the pains au chocolat that you%26#39;ve picked-up on the way to the boat.

Eiffel Tower. The stairs are wonderful unless it%26#39;s cold and windy. July should be A ok. The stairs are much nicer than the elevator and every flight of them, offers great views. It also means you skip the horrendous lines. The top half of the Eiffel Tower--you have no choice but an elevator.

Stroll around at the park at the base of the Eiffel Tower. It should be full of flowers, etc in July.

It would be fun for you to find a nice simple restaurant with outdoor seating. There%26#39;s a whole bunch on Rue Mouffetard in the 5th. That%26#39;s a fun pedestrian alley. IMO, after Italy, French food might be a disappointment...so never mind going fancy. Be sure to indulge in some desserts though.

Thanks for the info.

About the Siene cruise, is the food good? I%26#39;m not as much concerned with the price of something like that but the quality of the food.
