Hotel de la Jatte Neuilly sur seine

Could anyone tell me about the transport from central paris to the hotel please? What is the quickest way and how much is it? Is there anything I need to know about the transport service at all. Also eating places for dinner and lunch. Any ideas. I%26#39;m travelling with two teenagers so it would be great if we got to know of a few reasonably priced places. WE are arriving at the Charles de Gaule airport - is it better to take a taxi or to get a metro to central paris and then a taxi from there to the Hotel. Any ideas of costs. Sorry to ask so many questions and thank you to anyone who can help.

Joanne

I am so sorry, I know nothing about public transportation from central Paris to the ile de la jatte. Your hotel should be able to advise you. I took the time to reply because there is an exceptionally fun restaurant on the Ile, called Cafe de la Jatte.

Let me see if I can help sort out the transportation issues for you without confusing you too much.

The closest métro station to your hotel is Pont de Neuilly (Line 1). At a guess I would say it is about a mile, maybe 2 km from your hotel. The #93 bus that runs between Suresnes/De Gaulle (in the suburb of Suresnes) and Invalides (near the building of that name in the 7th arrondissement that houses the Army Museum and Napoleon%26#39;s tomb) has a stop at Pont de la Grande Jatte on the %26quot;mainland.%26quot; (Your hotel is on an island in the Seine as you probably know).

If you take the bus three stops in the Suresnes direction (upstream) from the Pont de la Grande Jatte (the stop will be on the same side of the street as the river) you will be at the Pont de Neuilly métro station. This will be the quickest way to get you into the center of Paris.

if you do not have a guidebook with a schematic of the métro system (you will need one as well as a pocketable street map) go to www.ratp.fr, the Paris transport (RATP) web site and find one there. Now find Line 1. If you start from Pont de Neuilly almost at the western end of Line 1 and travel in the Direction Château de Vincennes you will come in order to Charles de Gaulle/Étoile (Arc de Triomphe), then the stations along the Champs-Élysées until you come to Concorde (Place de la Concorde), then the Louvre, then Châtelet/Les Halles (the major transportation hub in Paris and a short walk from the islands, Notre Dame cathedral and the Latin Quarter, and after that St. Paul (the heart of the Marais), Bastille and Gare de Lyon.

Along this line, as you can see, you can change at CDG/Étoile, FDR, Concorde, C/Les H., Bastille — and a number of other stations — to other lines. The trick to using the métro is to know the name of the station at the END of the line in the Direction you want to travel. You then follow the signs at the station that say (for example) Ligne 1, Direction Château de Vincennes, or, to travel in the opposite direction, Ligne 1 Direction La Défense. When you need to transfer, follow the %26quot;Correspondances%26quot; signs at your transfer station that point you to the new Ligne you want travelling in the Direction you want. To exit the system and get back to street level follow the %26quot;Sortie%26quot; (Exit) signs.

Back to the #93 bus. If you take it in the OPPOSITE direction from Pont de Neuilly, i.e. towards Invalides, it will take you across the suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine, then across the 17th arrondissement and the 8th arrondissement, passing close to Parc Monceau, crossing the Champs-Élysées at the Rond-Point des C-E, finally crossing the river at Pont Alexandre III before finishing up at Invalides. The Musée d%26#39;Orsay, Musée Rodin and Eiffel Tower are not far from here.

Here is a link to a schematic of the route of the #93 bus. Let me know if it does not work: http://tinyurl.com/2c8446

If there are three or four of you by far the easiest way to get to your hotel from CDG will be to simply take an official Taxi Parisien from outside your terminal. My guess is that this will cost you about 45€ if you are not arriving at a time that might get you stuck in rush hour traffic. You will pay the metered fare plus 1€ for each piece of luggage plus 2€70 for each passenger after the third. If there are four of you you would be best to wait for a mini-van type of taxi. These are usually plentiful at the airports. No other method will be significantly less expensive, and all will be more complicated.

You will *probably* be best with some form of transportation pass for the duration of your stay. Without knowing what day of the week you are arriving AND leaving it is impossible to say which pass would work best for you, since some passes have a Monday to Sunday validity, others are valid for a variable number of consecutive days but can begin the period of validity on any day. Your teenagers will pay adult fares unfortunately.

there are plenty of moderately priced eateries around the Latin Quarter (5th arrondissement) and the part of the 6th bordering the 5th. Avoid the seemingly very inexpensive places in the latin Quarter around rue de la Huchette and rue de la Harpe. The food at most of these is far from good and the area deserves its nickname of %26quot;ptomaine alley.%26quot; Check through some of the archived forum posts. There are many with extensive lists of inexpensive places to eat and tips for minimizing one%26#39;s expenditure on food. Use inexpensive restaurants as keywords in the search box on the right above the posts and I%26#39;m sure ytou will find plenty of information.

Sorry if this rambles on a bit and/or if it covers ground you are already familar with. Just thought I might as well try to be as comprehnsive as possible in my answer. Hope it helps. Do let us know what days you are visiting so we can help with the métro/bus pass question.

The metro is easy from central Paris. You need to get line 1 out to Pont de Neuilly and then walk towards the Grand Arch, turn right at the river and then walk along the river until you get to a wooden footbridge. Go over this bridge to the tennis club and turn right through the sports ground. This will then bring you out onto Boulevard du Parc and the hotel is straight ahead at the end of the road on the left. It is about a 15 - 20 minute walk from Pont de Neuilly.

We have just returned from a 3 day Easter break and stayed at this hotel. I will post a report shortly.
