We all know it is acceptable for one to eat chicken with one%26#39;s fingers here in the States. We were wondering what the rule is on that is in Paris, for example? We%26#39;re thinking no, but need some input here.

Hi ,
Not sure about etiquette but hre%26#39;s my 2 cents.
I%26#39;ve notitced quite a few meat market - and I don%26#39;t mean bars :-) - that had chickens slowly roasting. I assume you can buy one fresh from the oven and go out for a pic nic. In that situation, I don%26#39;t see the problem of eating with fingers...assuming you don%26#39;t mind greasy fingers.
Otherwise, unless you%26#39;re eating chicken from KFC, I really don%26#39;t see that picking it up with your finger is the way to go.
Is it really common to do that in resaurants ? just wondering...

In a restaurant? Not the done thing to be honest, French table manners are higher IMHO. However you%26#39;re on hols, and it%26#39;s not against the law to eat like that.

well , it depends where .. if you buy a cook chicken and eat it for a picnic , it doesn%26#39;t shock anybody .. if you are in something as a KFC , it is acceptable .. in a good restaurant , you could be watched with big eyes ;)

Even in a simple cafeteria !
I have witnessed the %26quot;deed%26quot; once and I must say that the %26quot;offender%26quot; was the subject of a lot of attention ! :-)))

If we are talking about a reeaaaallly juicy, tasty chicken - or better yet: confit de canard or confit d%26#39;oie.......I sure would be tempted to suck the bones, when the waiter wasn%26#39;t watching....
As my husband always says: %26quot;I didn%26#39;t know them before and I am not going to know them afterwards%26quot;......
