I just ran a couple of checks on the new, redesigned SNCF web site. It seems that the option for picking up tickets at the ticket windows has disappeared. Is this possible?
The only options presented (and obviously not all of them were presented for the same dummy booking run) were (1) print your tickets, (2) receive your tickets by mail, or (3) obtain your ticket from an automatic ticket machine. Obviously option (3) does not work for many who do not have %26quot;chip %26amp; PIN%26quot; credit cards. Sometimes that is the only option presented besides the mail option which also does not work for us North Americans.
Is it likely that we will be unable to obtain our tickets from a ticket window or SNCF boutique if we have selected the automatic ticket machine option?
Specifically, as you probably know, the option given is: %26quot;Retirer votre billet en borne libre service avec la carte bancaire utilisé pour le paiement.%26quot;
And incidentally and as an irrelevant and picky grammatical question, shouldn%26#39;t it be utilisée?

I often take option 3 which doesn%26#39;t usually work for foreign credit cards (at least for mine - neither visa nor Amex), in which case you can still pick up your tickets at the booth. My wife (who%26#39;s French) assures me you can pick them up from any SNCF train station (including the RER), not just the one your travelling from, although I never tried this.

Since I continue to have problems with the website, I look forward to MorganB%26#39;s response. I am about at the point to call the English language option in his wonderfullly explained %26quot;how to use SNCF%26quot; site...

I printed my tickets - was this not the right thing to do?
|||
It is always best to print but you do not always have that option.

Purchasing a child%26#39;s ticket unbelievably negates the print option; (or at least it has in the past).

Still does, Sarastro. Yep, it%26#39;s unbelievable — but true. Sometimes it%26#39;s best to pay a higher fare just to get back the option to print...

Wow,
I just did a dummy booking for my trip and am also only getting 2 options...by mail or automatic ticket machines
Hopefully this can be cleared up by one of the experts here. I%26#39;m nearing my 90 day time to get a reservation. I have 2 kids so it won%26#39;t let me print..., I don%26#39;t have a French credit card...
I%26#39;ll be watching this thread.
rudyjane.... were you ever able to get fares and times for Paris to Bayuex
Rick

Rick, no I wasn%26#39;t....I sent you an email this morning....
|||
Morgan? EDnquiring minds want to know...
rudyjane I ran a check for Paris-Bayeux fares on both the English and French sides of the SNCF site with no problems. Did you get the issue cleared up? Ad if so do you know what the problem was?

I still see the option to pick it up at the window on the French site. Also, it still says in the French FAQ that getting the tickets at the ticket windows is an option. The libre service bornes don%26#39;t even take French Amex, so I can%26#39;t see how they could eliminate that option.
%26quot;Pour un paiement en ligne par American Express, par carte étrangère sans puce électronique ou par carte Cofinoga (montant maximum de 860 €) retrait des billets de train ne sera possible qu’aux guichets SNCF et non aux Bornes Libre Service.%26quot;
And, yes, it should be %26quot;utilisée%26quot;.
