Visiting Versailles this summer on a Saturday. May not be able to get there until 1PM. With Museum Pass. What will the crowds be like?

We arrived mid day on a Saturday in July a couple of years ago. the lines were terrible, so we just did a walk in the gardens. Going back this summer and plan to be on the first train out there in the morning. Visit the palace early and enjoy the rest of the day in the gardens and trianon.

I%26#39;m also planning to arrive at Versailles when it opens at 9am. I will be traveling on the RER from St. Michel. I am thinking I should get a train at about 8am. Is this correct? I will have the Museum Pass.
Thanks.

You may be really lucky when it comes to a Saturday visit at Versailles Palace. We were there on a Saturday in 2005, and there was a special musical water show. Perhaps someone knows the real story behind these water/classical music shows, but from my experience, it is an amazing spectacle. Imagine that the grounds of Versailles are full of classical music. Imagine that there the fountains are exploding with sprays of water. I have been there on numerous occasions, but that Saturday around 10:30 a.m was an unforgettable experience. It%26#39;s worth checking out this special water show.
No matter when you visit Versailles during the summer, you will encounter crowds...so best of luck. I would imagine that 1:00 in the afternoon would be a very busy time.

Thank you. Yes, we planned a Saturday trip just to see the fountains. Would it be wise to go to the gardens first, see the fountains, and then tour the palace buildings later in the afternoon?

If you arrive at 1pm, the fountains won%26#39;t be on (they don%26#39;t start again until 3:30p), so I would head straight to the Chateau and see what you can before you head into the gardens if seeing the inside of palace is important to you.
Keep in mind that your museum pass won%26#39;t get you into the gardens for the Grands Eaux. You%26#39;ll have to pay the entrance fee at the gate.
Last entry to either of the Trianons is at 1800h (6p), so if you want to see them, you%26#39;ll be pretty rushed. MA%26#39;s domain is open until 1930h and the gardens in general close at dusk.

Saturdays and Sundays will be the busiest days of the week for ANY major Paris attraction--Versailles, Louvre, d%26#39;Orsay, Eiffel Tower, etc......In addition to the higher than normal %26#39;..tourist..%26#39; traffic, these attraction will also draw local residents, families and friends out to enjoy THEIR great national treasures (go figga%26#39;??) on their days off from earning the living, necessary to pay the taxes to subsidize these attractions.
So with this in mind, try to arrive well before openning times, to get a place close to the head of the lines that will surely form at all. If visiting Versailles, the PARIS MUSEUM PASS includes basic admission as part of its coverage...or purchase a %26#39;..Le Forfait Loisirs Château de Versailles..%26#39; one-day pass at RER stations and other locations-- chateauversailles.fr/en/0_Advance_booking.php --prior to arriving at Versailles-- transilien.com/web/…Chateau-de-Versailles

Just got back from Versailles last week and encountered long lines at most attractions from the spring break crowds. We arrived mid-late morning and paid 25.00 for the private tour that was advertised near the train station. Best money we ever spent!!! Got right in...had a great english speaking guide..lasted about an hour and a half. Then went back to spend time in certain rooms on our own and walked around the gardens. Had a very nice lunch on the way to the train and made it to the Catacombs just before closing...another highlight!
