Cost of Taxi from Airport

Hi all, myself and four friends are flying into Nice for a few days at the end of April. Can anyone tell me how much the taxi is likely to cost us from the airport to the Ellington Hotel? Will we all get in one taxi?

Thanks for your help.

Ellington Hotel - 25 bd Dubouchage, 6000 Nice, France. Town centre. Good location.

Taxi cost depends on time of day or night. After dark its 30 euro, but not less than 25 euro other times. its a regulated fare, so dont take any baloney as we had last weekend, when the guy tried to boost it to 35 euro. The air was a little purple, but a driver down the queue took four of us for the 30 standard fare.

Five people is pushing it - most taxis hold four - but some taxis have more %26quot;people--mover%26quot; vehicles - you may have to do a bit of negotiating. You wont get five adults in a standard Merc.

The A-T-S airport transfer company have a range of bookable vehicles - book on line - its around the same as the taxi fare.

The bus is four euros per person to town, not much saving on the taxi.

Cheers

That%26#39;s great thanks for that NiceLife. Any views on the hotel itself?

The location is perfect, central and easy reach of all main transport connections and sights, and a picture confirms its a very attractive looking place

I noticed last week for the first time the fares must have been put up . We don%26#39;t usually take a taxi but a forty five minute wait at the airport didnt appeal, so we split the fare with another couple wanting to get into town. (Its a good tactic to share fare with other travellers at the bus stop - brings it to only double the bus fare for two)

It was 22:15 and the first driver asked us for 35 euro. We protested that it was no more than 28 at night - the last trip I was charged - and got a gallic explosion - poooff, slammed the boot and huffed away. %26quot;burn in hell you rosbifs%26quot;. I figured this was not the first time passengers had got stroppy over new fares - though I think he was loading it for %26quot;tourists%26quot; as the next driver agreed to take the four of us for thirty euro, no problem.

As its a regulated fare I figure the mayor must have upped the tariff 10%. Result: taxi drivers very happy, passengers less so!

Cheers
