As a side trip during a 12 day stay to Paris, I really like the idea of staying somewhere along the Cote D%26#39;azur and spending a day or two on the beach and stay in a nice resort...not a crowded city. I%26#39;ve spent time in Montpellier when I was in my teens and like that area. Would anyone have any suggestions about resorts, transportation, etc? Never rented a car in france before and am wondering how i%26#39;d get from the airport/train station to the resort.
There%26#39;s 2 of us, and we%26#39;d be able to fly with minimal baggage if necessary, so I think the cheap regional flight would be the best bet.
We fly back to the US from CDG.

Villefranche Sur mer is a nice, uncrowded location. Hotel Welcome is 30 feet from the harbour. Thee is a beach there and the train station is very close. You can day trip to Monte Carlo, Nice, Cannes by trian. Eze Village is a must-see also. Fly from Paris to Nice and take a taxi to the hotel. Flying is cheaper than the train and takes much less of your vacation time up.

I agre with UGAly about V-sur-M. You really don%26#39;t need a car on the Côte d%26#39;Azur. You might want to fly one way and take the TGV the other. It doesn%26#39;t take that much longer (1-2 hours at the most...) and it is probably a bit less expensive than even the cheapest air fare. And that way you will get to see the scenery. One way fares to Nice are as low as 35€ by TGv. sometimes even lower.
If you are flying both ways look at Air France as their RT fares are not bad. Otherwise EasyJet is your best bet.
You might want to repost this on the Côte d%26#39;Azur forum. There are some really knowledgeable people about the area there and we don%26#39;t see much of them up here!
Just FYI Montpellier is not on the Côte d%26#39;Azur so if you really would prefer that area you should go see the friendly folk on the Languedoc-Rousillon forum.

Keep in mind that with air travel there are a lot of hidden costs. For example, I just searched an EasyJet flight from Paris-Toulouse... fare is only 33euros return BUT the fees and surcharges are an additional 37 euros. So buyer beware!
