Train from Nice to Ventimiglia???

Traveling to Nice mid May. Traveling from there to Milan on 22 May. Already have train tickets to go from Ventimiglia to Milan at 9:00 am.I need to get to Ventimiglia from Nice before that time. I see there are local trains that will fit my needs. I cannot pre-book these trains from outside of France. Does anyoine know if you can reserve one of these trains a few days ahead or can you only get tickets for these trains at the station(Ville) the day of the trip? Also, is there another less hectic way of getting to Ventimiglia than by train?Thank you for your help.

We took the train from Nice to Ventimiglia a few years ago and we just went to the ticket counter and purchased our ticket. There is really no need to purchase them in advance. I think we paid about 15 Euros for two people. The website says it takes about 45 minutes but I don%26#39;t remember it taking that long. The train on our way to Ventimiglia was not full but we left after 9:00 a.m. on our train back around 6:00 p.m. it got really full of people going home from work.

Just look at the schedule on www.trenitalia.com and/ www.raileurope.com/us to see the schedules.

Hi

No, there is no less hectic way to get to Ventimiglia from Nice - its train or walk.

There are masses of earlier trains - this is the main commuter line for people who live around Nice but work in Monaco.

There is no problem buying a local TER train ticket for Nice - Ventimiglia other than the one that besets everyone - the long queues to buy tickets at Nice Gare Ville. At peak times it can take twenty minutes to reach the front of the queue to buy a ticket. So you need to mitigate this risk either by turning up very early for your train, or buy the day before if you can. Tickets are good for sixty days, so buying before is a good strategy.

Cheers
