Going from Paris to Venice. Checked prices, very similar, just different times of day and airports.
Anyone recommend one airline over another?
|||
I don%26#39;t know either airline, but I would choose MyAir for the mere fact that they use Orly and CDG, not beauvais.

As Kelsdm says, MyAir flies from ORY to VCE, Ryanair from BVA to TSF. If there were no other reason to take MyAir this would be enough. BVA and TSF are both a fair distance from the cities they purport to serve. You could probably get from the center of Paris to the center of Venice in about 2 hours less, certainly 90 minutes, using MyAir.
Ryanair has very restrictive baggage policies and will charge you 12€ for each piece of checked baggage. I have not checked (you should) but I suspect MyAir%26#39;s policies are much more generous.
Ryanair has raised the definition of the term %26quot;no frills%26quot; to a previously unheard of level. I have never travelled with MyAir and I doubt that their planes and service are the epitome of luxury, but I am reasonably confident that they can%26#39;t be any more Spartan in their approach than Ryanair.

Thanks
I checked myair and you are allowed free checked baggage but the weight limitation is the same for both. 15kg for check-in and 10kg for carry-on.
Ryanair cheaper by about 25 euros per flight even adding in the cost of checked baggage.
I agree that flying out of ORY is more convenient and less time consuming. The deciding factor will be the time of the flights.
Myair only one flight at 9:40 a.m. and Ryanair at 6:30 p.m.. If I go with Myair, I lose a half day in Paris, but gain it in Venice. what a decision to make.
If use Myair, get 5 days in Paris and 2.5 days in Venice.
If Ryanair, get 5.5 days in Paris and 2 days in Venice.
Thoughts anyone?

I would choose MyAir. It is more convenient in regards to airports and you%26#39;ll sacrifice too much time transfering to and from airports if you choose ryanair. and I think it makes more sense to allot an extra half day in venice since you only have 2 days to begin with. Five full days in Paris I think will be enough....well you will be wishing you had longer but thats for another trip!...and then that extra half day in venice when you arrive will allow you to get acclimated with city. Hope this helps you!
|||
You%26#39;re probably right, there will be another time.
|||
Again I agree with Kelsdm. Give yourself the extra time in Venice. If you take the Ryanair flight you will arrive too late to do much of anything after you arrive even assuming the Ryanair flight is on time. And it is SO much easier to get a sense of the geography in Venice if you arrive in daylight. Which reminds me — when are you travelling?
You%26#39;ll want more time in both places whatever you decide so you%26#39;ll just have to plan another trip!
Please come back and let us know how it was whichever you choose.
Have fun!

Thanks Kelsdm and IrishRvr
I%26#39;m traveling with my two daughters in the end of August to early September. So of the 5 days that I mentioned, my youger one wants to go to Disney, much to my chagrin, but it%26#39;s her trip too. So we lose a day doing that. So technically 4 days covering Paris.
Your points are well taken, I will shorten Paris (ouch) but get extra Venice time (yay), we go to Rome after that for 4 days and then on to London for 3. Know we will be back, just don%26#39;t know when, gotta save up again.
Will definitely post trip report when we get back, stay tuned.

I was in Venice last year, even at 2.5 days it will not seem long enough. Go with the Myair, you%26#39;ll be glad.
|||
Be prepared for hot weather, especially in Italy. Save the trip to Disneyland until late in your time in Paris. Perhaps your younger one will find that she loves Paris so much she would rather not go to Disneyland after all. (Angelina, Ladurée, the Jardin du Luxembourg and crêpes are probably all good bribes — and there are plenty of others!)
Have a great time!

Thank you everyone,
I%26#39;m going to book myair.
