Guided tour of the Louvre Museum

Hello,

Can anyone suggest a good guide for the Louvre museum? It can either be a private guide or a group walking tour. I am traveling with a 4 year old and cannot afford to drag them everywhere in the museum for the first time and not really knowing how to optimize my time. I will have a museum pass early on.

Guided tours in English are offered by the Louvre itself - see the schedule at the museum.

If you are brnging a stroller please go to the information desk and get the museum map for handicap and strollers.

It will show you all the elevators you may use and make the trip much easier on you.

We jsut returned yesterday from Paris, and had an excellent guide recommended on Trip advisor by another traveler. Barbara, of Paris Photo Tours, (parisphototours@yahoo.com), met us at the entrance of the Louvre on Friday at the time we requested, and gave us a 2 hour tour for 150 euros. She is American and very personable and professional. We were impressed as soon as we entered when she whisked us past a long line and we were able to gain entrance at once. We had a book of the pictures in the Louvre and emailed her a list of what we were hoping to see, and Barbara not only showed and discussed these, she also gave us much, much more and showed us things we didn%26#39;t even know about, such as the medieval portion of the building which had been the moat. Our 12 year old was totally fasinated by everything, and took an immediate liking to Barbara. By the way, children are allowed to enter the roped off section in front of the Mona Lisa so be sure to let your son. By having a private guide, you can tailor your visit to subjects you yourself designate, plus they know where to go the quickest and how to navigate this huge place.
