I am an avid knitter and I would love to come home from my trip to Paris with some really great yarn or patterns. Does anyone know of any yarn or knitting shops in the city?

I am also an obsessive knitter and pattern collector, and I found a wonderful little shop the last time I was there. It%26#39;s called %26quot;Chez Florence%26quot; and it%26#39;s at 11 Rue Dauphine. If you%26#39;re standing at Place St. Michel, facing Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame), take a left on Quai de Grands Augustins (the road that runs along the Seine.) Rue Dauphine is a few blocks up - turn left, and the shop is a few doors up on your left.
Florence is very friendly, and she has tons of beautiful samples she%26#39;s made. Since most of the patterns are her own, she will let you take pictures of the samples she%26#39;s made to go with the patterns you purchase, so bring your digital camera.
She takes credit cards. Her email address is chezflorence@noos.fr - you can email her if you get home and then have questions about the pattern - and her phone number is 01 46 34 13 21.

Thanks so much for the information. I love local yarn stores and this sounds like a great find.

La Droguerie at 11 rue du Jour is also a place you should visit. it%26#39;s in the 1st, next to the St Eustache church. Also, do a search for %26#39;yarn stores%26#39; on this forum, there are quite a few entries about the topic.

This is one of thoe %26#39;specialty%26#39; interests that gets questioned occasionally by others who share your passion...and perhaps one that is best served by using the %26#39;..SEARCH IN:..%26#39; feature of this TA forum (located below the GREEN %26#39;Paris Forum%26#39; line). Use %26#39;..Knittting..%26#39; as your basic Search criteria and you will connect quicklyto several threads on this topic with a better than fair number of recomendations and suggestions for other %26#39;..avid knitters..%26#39; like yourself.

There were at least 2 shops in France when I was there in February. One was on the Rue Clere (or Rue Clare) near the E%26#39;cole Militaire metro (subway) station the woman speaks some English but she carries a limited supply of yarns mostly Button d%26#39;or and I some Rowan. I happened to go in to the shop because I was looking for thread to put some buttons on a jacket I was finishing. When I showed her the jacket (made from Schaefer Esperanza yarn and a Noro pattern) The woman was extremely impressed and fell in love with the yarn.
The other shop was near Versaille and looked very similar to the shop on Rue Clere, but it was closed. I did some research before I left on my trip and the information I found lead me to believe that I wouldn%26#39;t find any yarn shops in Paris. So good luck %26amp; I hope you have better luck than I did.
