Pornichet or Pornic - which is better?

Hi - I am trying to decide which is the best location for me to stay at. I have to catch the train in Nantes so Im not sure if it is best to stay in Pornic or La Baule because I want the nicest most beautiful beaches and french village.

Can someone recommend something please.

Thankyou!

La Baule is a seaside resort with a HUGE lovely curving beach, but it is fronted with hideous 1960s-style concrete hotel and apartment buildings - all the pretty stuff is a block or two inland.

The little town of Pornic is a former fishing village, very hilly and much more picturesque and %26quot;French%26quot;, but the beaches are small and dotted around at the bottom of cliffs. And I don%26#39;t think you can swim at all of them. The station is right by the quayside though, so it would be easy to catch a train to somewhere else for the day.

Thank u for your reply.

Do u think Les Sables d Olonne woudl be a better location then?

Pornic and Pornichet dont sound like the ideal spot, given your information.

Are the beaches nice in Les Sables d Olonne? And the village itself?

Thank u!!

I think you have made several posts, all with different questions ( have replied to another one somewhere), and from what I recall, you are looking for a stay of just a couple of days?

In which case, I think you might enjoy Les Sables%26#39;d%26#39;Olonne.

Lovely beach; good restaurants (including many along the fishing quayside). Good shops.

There is quite a bit of info on my website www.the-vendee.co.uk
