Montpellier place to stay

I am arriving (tired) on August 30 at Montpellier airport. Where would be a nice place to stay for 2 nights? I will have a car.

Want to see some sights. I like quaint, interesting rather than too busy. Thanks!

Just a couple of questions to help find the best location:

1. Do you want to stay in Montpellier or outside?

2. what is the general budget?

3. For central Montpellier, a car is a liability (they are banned). Do you want a hotel with parking?

4. Sights? Does this mean architecture (Pont du Gard), Museums, Bull fights, beaches, nearby cities, festivals, bird sanctuaries, or parks?

There are a lot of hotels in this area.
