marseille to menton

Hi All

Can anyone tell me if feasible to visit Menton from Marseille-thought of one day in Marseille and would like to see Nice or Menton again as tried and tested - am wondering also whether to forget my planned two days at Aix as don%26#39;t drive and no one appears to know anything about hotel de france (e.g. how far from bus station when arriving from Marseille) also any tips on which is the liveliest part of Aix-en-Provence to stay for two days as don%26#39;t want too much walking

Hi,

From Marseille, you will arrive at the %26quot;gare routière%26quot; = bus station located Avenue de l%26#39;Europe.

It is at about 10 min walk from your hotel.

If you don%26#39;t want to walk, you can take another bus from la gare routière to %26quot;La Rotonde%26quot;, it is a big roundabout with a beautiful fountain in the middle : very easy to recognise.

Your hotel is very closed to this place.

In the round about is also located the Tourist Office (in the same building they sell tickets for the buses and give map of the network but you can also buy your ticket directly to the driver).

I don%26#39;t know this particular hotel but for sure it is located right in the town center, in the most lively part. You will be very closed to evrything.

There is a train from Marseille to Nice and then you can take another train from Nice to Menton.

Check hours and prices on this website : www.voyages-sncf.com

Might be difficult in one day.

I guess there are also buses from Marseille or Aix to Nice and Menton.

Yes. It is difficult if you plan to get back to Marseille on the same day. Train from Nice to Menton is fast...well, it%26#39;s actually slow, but the distance is really short. It%26#39;s the train from Marseille to Nice that will take a while.

Many thanks Darth Anonymous very helpful information - have decided on accommodation for three nights in Nice and be able to visit Menton and Provence as very near to train station should give me a long day in each - very grateful to you as after arriving at Marseille from airport can also spend some time there before taking train to Nice - the voyages website is welcome but am still trying to decide which option on there to chose for the best to gather information as have arranged to arrive at Nice at 5 in the evening - should be o.k. though as will be in Marseille airport around 10.a.m.- thank you again
