Deciding between two apartments

Hi. I%26#39;ve never been to Paris and we%26#39;re looking at renting an apartment.

We%26#39;ve narrowed it down to two choices. Does anyone have any thoughts about these two? Is the Montmartre location very hilly?

One of us has issues negotiating steep hills.

Thanks,

Michelle

It%26#39;s the *Butte* de Montmartre, so all roads lead UP. If someone has trouble with hills, Montmartre is the last place you should consider for a location. You would have to be extremely detailed in your planning to ensure the apt. was near a convenient bus stop or metro stop (and that the metro stop is OPEN during your stay).

Be sure your potential apt choice has an *elevator* in the building as many do not.

Yes, we%26#39;ve been running into the elevator issue. A couple of flights would be fine, but we can%26#39;t do anything really high up. :)

I personally would choose the one in the 3rd with very little hesitation..

%26gt;%26gt;It is situated on the third (US fourth) floor of a traditional 18th century Parisian building and is accessible by stairs.%26lt;%26lt;

This is copy-paste from the description of the apartment in Arts et Métiers district. It seems that there are NO elevator, so I would not choose that one. Your partner will be very tired in his/her legs after a long day of sightseeing, so climbing 3 storeys up will be very tough.

Agree that Montmartre is not the easiest district if you tire easily in your legs - or at least it wil take some planning to do.

That shouldn%26#39;t hold you back from a visit to Montmartre, though. Take the metro to Place Pigalle and hop on the %26quot;Montmartrobus%26quot; - a small bus which will take all the way up to the top of Montmartre and around in the cute little cobblestoned alleys. You can get off any place you want and then just take the bus back to Pigalle when you like. NB! It will cost you a ticket each time you get on the bus.

Thank you so much for the tips!

We did end up finding a place with an elevator in Montmartre through parisaddress.com, so we%26#39;re all set.

Looking forward to it!
