We don%26#39;t really want to drive on our vacation in August in Brittany. Where would you recommend we base our operations in order to maximize train and bus connections to sites? We%26#39;ve got a 3 year old in tow.
Thanks for your help.

Dear Cora
There is soooo much to see and do, and Brittany is huge....I would recommend a car!
There is public transport, and trains are great but then you have to situate yourself in one of the larger towns, and you would miss so much of Brittany.
The Pink Granite Coast - around La Roche Derrien, Treguier, Perros Guirec, Tregastel is stunningly beautiful and plenty to do in the summer, street entertainment, markets, etc.
It all depends on what you like doing?

Jalban is absolutely correct, Brittany is not really properly visited by train or bus; I highly recommend a car. Much of what is so beautiful is not in metropolitan areas.
Additionally, you will be visiting a French coastal area during peak vacation time. If you have not reserved restaurant/hotels already, you might spend an inordinate amount of time looking for vacancies.
On the other hand, many hotels offer special pricing in Paris during August.
