We have rented an apartment in Cassis for a week at the end of June 07 and want to use it as a base for day trips in to Provence. Will be staying 2 nights in Aix at the end of the trip so, will not go there during the Cassis week.
In the past have rented a home between Nice and Eze so not heading that direction this trip.
Not looking for marathon days, but nice drives to interesting places round trip from Cassis. We also will have one train travel day to use on our pass.

Hello,
There is a marvellous market in Sanary sur Mer on Wednesday. Toulon is interesting for visiting its military harbour by boat.
The road between Cassis and La Ciotat is fantastic with panoramic views***. Don%26#39;t miss la Calanque du Mugel in la Ciotat : a short walk in an exotic garden ending by a nice view to the sea from the top of the trail.
If you are courageaous, go and see the inlet of En Vau by foot from Cassis (about 3 hours way and return) or take a cruise from the harbour (45 min to 1h30).
Marseille has to be seen, for sure but mind the traffic !
There are interesting museum/factory dedicated to santons (christmas cribs) in Aubagne such as santons di Landro.
Take the beautiful road leading from Gemenos to Plan d%26#39;Aups and visit the Ste Baume grotto (where Maria Magdalena is said to have lived for 30 years), a nice and refreshing walk under the trees...
So many things to do...
Taste wine and olive oil in le Domaine de Souviou in le Castellet and see olive trees having more than 1000 years ! Have a dinner in l%26#39;Hostellerie Berard in La Cadière d%26#39;Azur...
La cadière d%26#39;Azur and le Castellet are nice and picturesque villages. Bandol is pleasant... Have nice holidays !

Forgot to tell you : with your train pass, go from Cassis to Marseille and from Marseille to Martigues and return.
Between Marseille and Martigues, the rail follows the seaside provinding fantastic views*** that can%26#39;t be seen by car.
It is really really beautiful !
