Hi, we are going to Biarritz at beginning of June with some friends. We are staying in Ocean Residence. Several questions spring to mind but firstly, can anyone tell me about the weather at the beginning of June. Is there plenty to do, i.e sightseeing ect. Anyone know what the apartments are like. And lastly, our favourite subject..what is the food like!

There are some great historical sites on the web with weather records from the past. Unfortunately I can%26#39;t find the link I had to Biarritz. But expect it to be warm.
I wouldn%26#39;t say there is %26quot;plenty to do%26quot; because Biarritz is actually quite small. But it%26#39;s very beautiful. But if you get bored, Bayonne is a great side trip - just hop on the very regular STAB bus No 1. Another great trip is St Jean du Luz - again, busus, though not as regular. You can take the trai to either, too, but Biarritz train stationis a LONG way out of town.
I don%26#39;t stay at those apartments, but I think they are supposed to be good.
The food is great - I particularly recommend Bistro des Halles, with an after drink at Bar du Marche, and the pizza restaurant on Ave Eduoard VII.

Hi Gill,
I don%26#39;t know if your Ocean Residence is the same as what we here call the Biarritz Ocean hotel, but if it is, it%26#39;s a great place to stay. Located on rue Etienne Ardhoin, it%26#39;s right in the center. Ask for a room in the back which overlooks the garden and have very sunny balconies. We stayed in this residence with our kids for 6 weeks when our Biarritz apartment was being remodeled-and I loved it.
The weather in June is generally good. But bring a rain jacket just in case, as a bit of rain is always a possibility.
You%26#39;ll want to check out our market, go before noon. Have a coffee at one of the bars inside or next door. Lunch or dinner at Bar Jean is always fun. Ther is a new restaurant which just openned in the neighborhood called Baleak, which is very good.
Walk down to the Grand Plage and stop and have a coffee or a beer at the outside cafe located at the far end of the Casino, the one closest to the Palais Hotel. That%26#39;s a great spot to soak up the locals.
You can also book a surf lesson at the Quiksilver shop there.
Check the tide tables and one day at low tide walk over to the Côte des Basque beach. At high tide there is no beach here, but at low tide it%26#39;s the BEST! Leave your shoes behind a rock and stroll south along the sandy beaches for a good long walk.
Make sure you get down to San sebastian to go tapas hopping in the old Quarter one night. The bars are fully stocked for dinner at about 19:30. Then enjoy one drink and maybe 2 tapas in one bar, then immediately move on to the next! It%26#39;s the tapas crawl, and it%26#39;s a MUST!
Do visit St Jean de Luz and Bayonne. Avoid Bayonne on a monday morning, as lots of stuff is closed then. Lunch at the Chistera restaurant is quite nice on rue Port Neuf. The owners Jean Pierre and Maite both speak English. Jean Pierre played professional Pelote Basque (Jai Alai) in the US for many years. It%26#39;s a family restuarant and has a good feel about it.
Oh, and do try and see some Basque Pelote while in Biarritz. Either Grand Chistera (outside) or Jai Alai (inside version)
When in St Jean de Luz, if you like shellfish platters, go to the Txalupa and get ready to have probably the best one you%26#39;ve ever had. Order a bottle of white wine,Chateau Graveline, the restaurant owner (George) owns the winery. He also makes his own Basque Beer, Eki-which is worth a try as well.
If you have a car, get out and check out the Basque villages, Ainhoa, Sare, Espelette-they%26#39;re all tucked into the foothills of the Pyrenees and the ride is beautiful.
No, there is plenty to do and you can%26#39;t hardly find a bad meal here-so come and enjoy!

Hey there
Just returned from a fabulous weeknd in Biarritz - stayed at Ocean Residence and it was lovely - very clean - spacious - plenty storage and lots of mirrors - great for two girls ! and central to everything - mind you i think any hotel would be central as it is a small enough town.
I agree on the balcony try and get a sunny one - we didnt but it didnt matter really as we were out and about most of the time. And we had a charming view of the buildings across the street which were beautiful
Oh and the shower was fab too - full on power shower with loads of hot water !
Bayonne is gorgeous too - thankfully the shops were closed when we were there otherwise we%26#39;d have been bankrupt !
Taj Mahal Indian restaurant was amazing aswell
Definitely going back to this charming place - oh and the shops - lots of little boutiques and galleries lafayette have amazingly cheap clothes and make up !
Get the bus from the airport - its only 1.20 and drops you just round the corner - check the times for the return service we just missed one and got a taxi and were charged 20 which felt was a bit of a rip off but it was our own fault.
Hope that helps a bit ! Any questions feel free to ask
Carol
