Help please arriving in Paris (CDG) Sat 5 May at 9:15 am

I am leaving for Madrid on Wednesday 9 May at 11.45 am. I am staying right near the Louvre (1er arrondissement).

What is my best way to get from the airport and around Paris? What kind of public transport tickets should I buy and where can I get them from?

Get on to the web site for the airport and look at directions for transport options:

aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/…

IF on a budget, my suggestion, after getting to the airport RER line B station, is to take the train to Chatelet Les Halles, using same ticket change to Metro line and take metro train(s) to Louvre Rivoli station or thereabouts depending where you are staying.

Use the following web site to work out your route and timetable. It would also be goo if you had a Paris street map to see how many streets your hotel was from the nearest metro station and which Metro station.

ratp.info/informer/anglais/aeroport_rerb.php

Your trip ticket from airport to Louvre area will be around Eur8 +

Around Paris I would suggest use of the legs for walking, Metro when tired and RER when travelling further afield. For the Metro and local RER travel I would suggest buying a %26#39;carnet%26#39; (pronounced karnay) of 10 tickets for travel on the Metro/central RER network. These can be purchased from any Metro/RER station.

When it is time to leave this wonderful and amazing city, hop back on the RER B line out to CDG, if that is how you are departing. At certain times of day it can be very much quicker than a taxi or other form of road transport, due to the traffic conditions.
