Taxis at Gare Montparnasse

We will be arriving very late from Brest in Brittany at Gare Montparnasse in Paris (at 23h19) in early July. We then need to get to our apartment which is not far from the station. Would you advise us to take a taxi and if so are there taxis at Gare Montparnasse? This is our first visit to Paris.

Hello;

There are taxi stands in front of the Gare Montparnasse, one just down from metro Gaite across from the Le Meridien Montparnasse Hotel.

You should have no trouble finding a cab at that time of night.

Taxi meters start at 2 euros and the minimum fare is 5.50 euros.

All registered taxis in Paris have meters. Do not use a taxi without a meter. It is probably a freelance driver, who may not have proper insurance. You run the risk of ruining your vacation.

Fares are a little higher after 7pm.

If you call for a taxi, the meter begins when the driver starts out to pick you up.

Most taxi fares are cash only. Very few taxis take credit cards.

It is the custom to give a 10% tip to the driver.

Here are two companies that will have English speaking dispatchers:

Taxi G7 - Phone: 01.41.27.66.99 English-speaking

Taxi Bleus - Phone: 01.49.36.10.10 English-speaking

You might think of having a google map of the area with the address printed on it to avoid confusion before leaving and also to have a sense of the distance.

Enjoy Paris.
