Will be going to the Lourve in June w/9 year old...read about the 3 hour English tour..would anyone recommend this? Thought it may be a good/quick way to see the highlites....or should we go on our own and just browse and see the Mona Lisa? We will only be in Paris 2 days, so want to see the main sites, but not waste a lot of time at anyone attraction. Thanks for your thoughts.

These kinds of things are a matter of personal preference, IMO. I prefer to go own my own. I did a little research before we went and laid out those things I particularly wanted to see - Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Bonaparte%26#39;s apartment, Napoleon%26#39;s Coronation, Wedding at Cana, and the like. I could then move through the museum stopping - or not - at whatever caught my fancy along the way. Going it on my own also allowed me to linger at things that particularly drew me in. I could move through it at my own pace, seeing those things that were important to me rather than at a pace dictated by someone else and seeing those things that THEY thought I should see. Make sense?
To each his own on how to tour museums, but my vote always goes toward doing your own thing and setting your own tour. :-)
