What might be the quickest detour from our route Paris to Grenoble, where we could see one or two impressive Chateaux on the Loire?
Thanks

The Loire châteaux are a very long way from the direct route from Paris to Grenoble. At a guess I would say you would probably be adding about 200 km and at least 2.5 hours to what is already a longish drive. (France is not Australia and driving is really somewhat different.)
No doubt you will get a Michelin road atlas at 1:200 000 scale or the appropriate Michelin regional maps at the same scale before you leave home if you are going to be doing much driving. In the meantime you could get an idea of how much out of your way you would have to go by going to viamichelin.com and looking at the distance and estimated driving time from Paris to Grenoble and then from Paris to Chenonceau and Chenonceau to Grenoble. I find viamichelin%26#39;s estimated driving times to be somewhat optimistic and you need to add time for meal and fuel stops in any case.
