Hi
We are heading to Biarritz on Saturday morning for a few days - one thing worries me - will the shops and bars be open as it is a Holy weekend ??
Im a girl so naturally I like to shop :-)
If anyone can help I%26#39;d appreciate it
cheers !

I don%26#39;t know about Easter weekend so I can only guide you as to a normal weekend in Biarritz out of peak season.
Saturday I expect to be a normal day with shops open until around 6-7pm. Bars and restaurants will be open as normal.
If you want to shop at Galerie Lafayette, 17 Place Clemenceau, it should be open until 19.00 on Saturday and then - I imagine - open again at 9.30am on Tuesday.
I assume you%26#39;re going direct from Dublin, so you will be arriving at 14.40. It%26#39;s only a short hop by taxi into town (cost about 10-12 euros), or you can take bus no 6 if you are on a tight budget. So if you%26#39;re flight is on time you would have time to do a couple of hours shopping on the Saturday!
Sundays are normally very quiet in Biarritz; most small food stores and bakeries are open until 12.30; most other shops remain closed all day, so expect them to be closed this Sunday. Sunday nights are normally extremely quiet.
A lot of restauranteurs and bar owners tend to close on Sundays and Mondays - but I honestly don%26#39;t know what the deal is regarding bars and restaurants with it being a holiday weekend - there%26#39;s sure to be quite a lot of visitors around.

Thanks a mill for that - fingers crossed we will find somewhere to eat and drink on Sunday and Monday ! failing that it%26#39;ll be a picnic - the weather forecast looks good !
We are staying in apartments so will stock up on food and drink on Saturday just to be on the safe side :-)
Cheers !

Yes, both big supermarkets close on Sundays. But if you go to the area Saint Charles, on Rue Bergerie, there is a %26quot;Huit a Huit%26quot; (like the French 7-11), a bakery and fruit and veg shops which I think will all be open until 12.30 on Sunday.
If you walk through this area there is an unassuming Tabac at the end, but if you go in it is full of Biarritz local life. On a Sunday you will see locals of all ages drinking anything from soda to sherry, and you can get a very good priced coffee here.
Where are you staying?
Have a good trip.

Hi
Thanks for all you advice - we had the best time ever !
Stayed at Ocean Residence it was perfect. The shops were mainly closed but one or two opened on Monday and we had most of Tuesday so hit Galleries Lafayette with gusto !
Thanks again - I love this site !
