Chateau Mirambeau in Boredeaux Area

I am driving to Bordeaux for the first time from the Loire Valley. Planning to stay 2 nights.

Is the Chateaux Mirambeau in a good location for exploring vineyards and wine country in/ near Bordeaux? I realize the chateau is North of Bordeaux. I don%26#39;t want to be too far away from the %26quot;Wine Road,%26quot; since I%26#39;ll be there only 2 short days. Yet I noticed that many of the wine areas are around 1 hour apart.

I plan to definitly visit St. Emilion one day. The second day is open.

Any suggestions on where to go the second day to get the best taste of the region in 2 days?

Merci!

Some clients of mine stayed at the Château Mirambeau last year and were very happy with the experience. That being said, the location is some distance away from the Route des Châteaux in the Médoc. You won%26#39;t have too much trouble getting to Saint-Emilion, although the drive will be around the hour that you have indicated.

The Médoc would be the best choice for your second day, however it is on the other side of the Gironde estuary which means driving down to Blaye and taking the ferry across. There is a departure from Blaye at 10:00 which will land you in the Médoc a half-hour later, in time to make an 11:00 appointment for a château visit; the return from Lamarque could be at either 5:00 or 6:30. The fare is 12.80 euros for the car, with another 3.10 euros for each passenger.
