Brasserie Ile St Louis Paris

I saw somewhere that Brasserie Ile St Louis Paris closed in March 2007?

I need to find out urgently if this is so because I will be flying in on May 17 from Barcelona and am meant to be meeting my daughter and husband there and if it is closed I need to make new arrangements. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Thanks. Margaret Watts Byrne.

I have not read any reports of the Brasserie Ile St Louis closing but perhaps Local Expert Metromole can walk by and report back, as he sometimes has in the when a question like this was raised. I wonder whether what you read were the reports earlier this year about the closure of Mon Vieil Ami, another place on the Ile St Louis? I note that according to a local who posts on bonjourparis, Mon Vieil Ami was not closed down, just being redecorated.

Perhaps arrange an alternative meeting point nearby, such as Le Flore en l%26#39;Ile across the street, just in case La Brasserie de %26#39;Ile St Louis is closed unexpectedly, for whatever reason, or has no seats available on the day.

Brasserie Ile was very much open when we enjoyed lunch there on 29 March. No indication of impending closure that we spotted.

We were there in mid-March of this year, enjoying delicious Berthillon ice cream and wonderful cafe creme!

Thanks everyone. I think we might revert to meeting our daughter and her husband at the hotel we will be checking into in St Severin. If I could find the fax number for the Brasserie it would help. We have a French friend in Sydney who recommended the Brasserie years ago and we have been several times and thought it was the appropriate place to meet up on our arrival into Paris and our daughter%26#39;s imminent departure (that night) back to Sydney. Problem is that the Rick Steves%26#39; forum heading says something about it but nowhere in any of the attached forum comments is there any mention of it.

My French is a bit schoolgirlish to try ringing the restaurant. The minute they started to talk at the speed they do, I would be lost! Appreciate your comments. PottyaboutParis.

Hi Potty

I think you can rest assured that the fact no-one else has mentioned that the Brasserie has closed, combined with its being seen alive and kicking by two TA posters who have seen it open in the last two weeks, means you can pretty safely assume it is not closed down. As I mentioned, the Flore en l%26#39;Ile is across the way and you can look from one to the other so that is a reasonable fall back meeting place if the Brasserie is full that day.

A good point Faux. Maybe I am overreacting a bit. If they arrive there and find that it is not open, there are a couple of choices where they can go until the appointed hour and just have to watch out for us.

We are flying Ryan Air for the first time from Barcelona to Paris Beauvais (which I had never heard of until this trip!) and am just a little uncertain as to what time we will arrive at the hotel in Rue St Severin. The plane is due to arrive at 1310 so I figured 1600 meeting time was reasonable. So let%26#39;s hope so!

Thanks for your input. PottyaboutParis, Sydney Australia.

My traveling companion reminds me that we walked past a very -much-open Brasserie Ile St. Louis on 3 April.

Excellent, thanks. However, I now find that they only open at 6pm on Thursdays for some reason! Appreciate all your comments but I have now told my daughter to come to our hotel and we will then head to Ile St Louis and see what we find! I hope it will be open because I would like them to try some Alsacian food and, to me, Ile St Louis is quintessentially French!

Thank you one and all. PottyaboutParis Sydney Australia!!!

For what it%26#39;s worth, we detoured across Ile St. Louis to have a look. They%26#39;re still in business with no sign of a closure. The tables and chairs have been recently updated so I think they plan to be around for awhile.
