Hi
When I went there last year with my wife we took the train into Paris and from there metro to our hotel. But when I went there on a business trip a couple of weeks back we just took a taxi to our hotel near the Eiffel tower..it is the easier option but it will also be more expensive compared to the train option :-)

There is NO one, single %26#39;..best mode of transport..%26#39; for airport transfers...only those which suit YOUR own particular preferences, priorities, special needs and budget %26#39;..best..%26#39;. Given your stated personal criteria (budget not among them), the best %26#39;..compromise..%26#39; of the lot will be to simply exit your CDG arrival terminal building, walk to the curb and take a TAXI PARISIAN from the regular taxi rank outside of all CDG arrival terminals. It might be a good idea to either print-out the Location information page from the hotel%26#39;s web site or jot down the exact name and address of the hotel to show to the taxi driver so that there are no misunderstandings or miscommunications. The taxi fare, dor-to-door should run 50-60 €...but since your flight arrives at 16:30 (4:30 PM)...you will probably be heading out into rush-hour traffic when you leave the airport.

THe Air France coach to Montparnasse would be an option. At a guess I would say it would be about 3 km from the bus drop-off to your hotel. The coach to the Arc de Triomphe would actually drop you off somewhat closer to your hotel. You could take the métro (Line 6 IIRC) very easily from either Montparnasse or Charles de Gaulle/Étoile (where the Arc de Triomphe is located) direct to Bir-Hakeim, the closest station to your hotel. The alternative would be a taxi.

I have traveled in Paris many times and tried most of transports to and from the airport. Remember that in Paris traffic from the airport is no 1 problem. Surface transport, bus, taxis or shuttle can take you to your hotel in at the best 45 min. or could take 1 1/2 h or more in traffic jams. Most exasperating and very anxiogenous when you have a flight to take back! So best option is really train and metro. It is right in the airport cost about 13 euros per person one way trip and never has any traffic problems. Metro is really easy and you can go on the website of RER paris where they will figure out for you the route to your hotel. Very simple. Good luck and if you choose anyway to travel by surface be sure to have plenty of time when you get back to the airport.
